Ohio: Itineraries
Starting near the Pennsylvania state line in East Liverpool, this 55-mile trip will take you along the lower eastern side of Ohio to a final destination in Bridgeport. Begin your trip on State Route 39 at the Point of Beginning where exploration of the Northwest Territory first began. Continue the trip on State Route 7 to see "America’s Crockery City," fine European architecture and more. Finally, you’ll reach Bridgeport and enjoy the end of your trip experiencing historic culture of all types.
Starting in Bellaire, this 83-mile trip will take you along the southeastern side of Ohio to a final destination in Marietta. Begin your trip by taking State Route 7 to the B&O Railroad Viaduct bridge, formerly the longest stone arch bridge in the U.S.. Continue down State Route 7 to see other historical structures including bridges, locks, a dam and more. Finally you’ll reach Marietta and close your trip in the beautiful Hamar Historic District.
Starting in Marietta, this 89-mile trip will take you along the southern Ohio border to Gallipolis, which is just east of the state’s southernmost point. Begin your trip in the Marietta Historic District, then take State Route 7 to Belpre. Continue your trip on State Route 618 through Belpre and return to State Route 7 to Torch where State Route 124 and State Route 7 Business loop will continue to just beyond Middleport and return to State Route 7 to reach Gallipolis. Along the way you will encounter at least 13 historical and cultural sites to stop and explore, including the world’s largest baby doll factory, a Civil War battleground and many memorials.
Starting in Gallipolis, this 87-mile trip will take you along the southernmost point of Ohio to Portsmouth. Begin your trip in the Old French City, then take State Route 7 to Ironton. Continue the trip on State Route 52 to reach Portsmouth. Along the way, explore everything from the Homestead Museum at Bob Evans Farms to historic homes and a shoelace factory. There’s something for everyone!
Starting in Portsmouth, this 61-mile trip will take you along the southern Ohio border to Ripley, which is just west of the state’s southernmost point. Begin your trip by taking in beautiful murals depicting the Ohio River. Then travel down US Route 52 until you reach Ripley and close your trip at the Tobacco Museum. Also, be sure to enjoy the many natural attractions and unique historical sites along the way – it’s a rare combination of attractions your whole family will enjoy!
Starting in Ripley, this 56-mile trip will take you all the way to Cincinnati, situated near the Indiana state border. Begin your trip on US Route 52 by exploring Ripley’s many national landmarks and historical markers. Continue along 52 and have a “divine experience” in Utopia along the way! When you finally reach Cincinnati, and pick-up US Route 50, close your trip by enjoying an amusement park, a cultural event or delve into more history!
